UFC on FX 7 Result: Vitor Belfort finishes Michael Bisping in second round

Michael Bisping walked into the octagon at the Ibirapuera Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil and knew that a win over Vitor Belfort would secure him a title shot, but he was unable to secure a fight with Anderson Silva as Belfort scored a second round TKO victory. UFC on FX 7

Both fighters were patient in the first round before Belfort landed a head kick that stunned Bisping. He would follow up the head kick with a flurry of punches and the bell would sound before he could potentially get a stoppage victory in the opening round.

In the second round, Belfort would land another head kick and this would drop Bisping to the ground. Once on the ground, Belfort would throw a flurry of punches on the ground and referee Dan Miragliotta came in to stop the fight.

Belfort (22-10) now has 15 career victories by knockout and has won 8 of his last 10 fights. In his post fight interview, Belfort called for the UFC to remove Chael Sonnen from his upcoming title opportunity against Jon Jones and asked for a rematch against Jones.

This is second lost for Bisping (24-5) in his last three fights and he will have to work his way back into title contention. In his post fight interview, he stated that he will be back in title contention down the road.

In the co-main event of the fight card, CB Dollaway defeated TUF Brazil alum Daniel Sarafian by split decision to win his second straight fight. Sarafian was the aggressor in the early part of the fight and Dollaway came close to ending the fight in the second round with an uppercut, but Sarafian was saved by the bell before he could potentially get the finish.

In the third round, Sarafian appeared to be gassed out and Dollaway was able to take advantage. He was able to take the fight to the ground in the final round and that is what likely sealed the victory for him on two of the three judges scorecards. Dollaway (14-5) is now 7-4 in his UFC career and its his fourth UFC victory by decision.
