UFC 168 Preliminary Card Ratings Set Fox Sports 1 Record

The UFC 168 Preliminary Card on Fox Sports 1 was featured by Ultimate Fighter 17 finalist Uriah Hall scoring his first UFC victory as he defeated Chris Leben and it was the most watched UFC preliminary card in Fox Sports 1 history. UFC 168

According to Fox Sports PR executive John Stouffer, the UFC 168 preliminary overnight rating for the preliminary card landed at its highest on Fox Sports 1 ever with 1,554,000 total viewers.

Along with it being the highest UFC preliminary card in Fox Sports 1 history, the card is now the 5th most watched UFC event on the cable network.

The previous preliminary card of UFC 167 on Fox Sports 1 scored 998,000 total viewers, so UFC 168 prelims saw a 55.7% increase in viewership. This event now brings the average PPV prelim on Fox Sports 1 to 942,200 viewers, up from 789,250 viewers. When the UFC was on FX, the average was 1.2 million viewers.

The post fight show on Fox Sports 1 also delivered record breaking numbers for the cable network as the show had 313,000 viewers. The previous high was for the UFC 167 post fight show, which drew 249,000 viewers.

When it came to the competition on Saturday night, the WWE Tribute to the Troops show (8p-9p) on NBC landed at 2.3 million viewers. This was a 76% increase from last years show and it drew a .6 rating.

On the cable side, the UFC did go up against college football bowl game on ESPN and that game average 5.7 million viewers with a 1.6 rating. The UFC finished in the top 20 for all television shows for the evening on Saturday and the UFC 168 prelims were the highest rated non-football cable program with a .7 rating.

Prior to the preliminary card, Fox Sports 1 aired UFC Ultimate Insider and UFC Fight Flashback. UFC Ultimate Insider was an encore episode at 7 p.m. ET and it drew 225,000 viewers, making it the most watched UFC Ultimate Insider in FOX Sports 1 history. At 7:30 p.m. ET, the second encore of UFC Fight Flashback aired and it pulled in 412,000 viewers. It becomes the most watched encore of any UFC program on Fox Sports 1 and viewership was up 164% over the premiere episode.
