Pat Curran vs. Patricio Pitbull will headline Bellator 121 on June 6th in Oklahoma

The 2014 Bellator Summer Series will begin on June 6th in Oklahoma and the fight card will be headlined by Pat Curran defending the featherweight title against Patricio Pitbull in a rematch of their 2013 title fight. Bellator 121

The fight booking was announced by Bellator on Friday.

Bellator 121 will come from the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma on June 6th. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by visiting the WinStar World Casino Box Office.

“Curran and Pitbull are two of the best featherweights on the planet,” Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney said. “Curran’s win in their first fight last year makes for a great 2nd title fight. This should be fireworks on June 6th. We always look to kick off our Summer Series strong, and this main event will be a fantastic anchor to what will be an incredible night of fights.”

Curran (20-5) reclaimed the Bellator featherweight title last month when he scored the latest stoppage in Bellator title history as he defeated Daniel Straus. He is 7-1 in the Bellator featherweight division and his last two wins have come by submission.

“Pitbull has been running his mouth a lot lately and everyone is sick of hearing it,” Curran said. “I’m ready to shut him up for good. I’m an even better fighter now than I was the first time we fought and I’ll show you Pitbull a true champion fights on June 6th.”

Pitbull (21-2) won the season nine featherweight tournament to secure this title shot and Curran is the only fighter to defeat him in his last eight fights. There first meeting at Bellator 85 was a close fight and this is a fight Pitbull has been wanting since their first meeting.

“I’ve been wanting this rematch with Curran for a long time, and it’s finally here,” Pitbull said. “I won that first fight, and I should be Bellator Featherweight Champion right now. This time, I’m not going to let it go to the judges. Curran has started to get cocky and he’s disrespecting me. He has no idea what I’ve been through to get to the title. I’m going to put a brake on his tongue on June 6th.”

Bellator will be announcing more fights for this Summer Series fight card in the coming weeks.
