Brad Tavares vs. Nate Marquardt official for UFC 182

A middleweight bout has been officially added to the UFC 182 card on January 3rd in Las Vegas as Ultimate Fighter alum Brad Tavares will meet former Strikeforce champion Nate Marquardt.

The fight booking was recently confirmed by the UFC following a report from the Las Vegas Journal Review.

UFC 182 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on January 3rd and will be headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier.

Tavares (12-3) has dropped back to back fights after winning five in a row. His most recent defeat came at UFC Fight Night 47 as he lost by TKO against Tim Boetsch. Marquardt (33-13-2) returned to the middleweight division earlier this year as he defeated James Te Huna at UFC Fight Night 43. The victory snapped a three fight losing streak and it was his first win since 2012.
