UFC 179: Aldo vs. Mendes II Weigh-In Results

The UFC 179 Weigh-Ins took place today in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the main event title fight is now official after both fighters made weight. UFC 179

Today’s weigh-ins came from the Maracanazinho Gymnasium and the same venue will host tomorrow night’s fight card.

In the main event, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo (145 lbs) will defend his title against Chad Mendes (145 lbs) in a rematch of their 2012 bout which Aldo won by TKO with one-second left in the opening round.

“He is not going to be able to take my belt,” Aldo said. “Everyone can be at ease that the belt is going to stay in Rio.”

Three fighters on the preliminary card did miss weight as Scott Jorgensen came in 2 pounds over the flyweight limit of 126 pounds for his bout against Wilson Reis. Also missing weight was the two fighters in the first fight of the night as Fabricio Camoes (158 lbs) and Tony Martin (157 lb) both missed the lightweight limit of 156 pounds.
