The signing was announced by Bellator on Monday in a press release.

Guillard (32-14-2, 2NC) went 1-1 in the WSOF last year after exiting the UFC. His last fight came in November as he lost a split decision against lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in a non-title fight.

“We are excited to have Melvin coming onboard,” Bellator President Scott Coker said in a press release. “With competitors the likes of Lightweight Champion Will Brooks, Michael Chandler, Marcin Held, Derek Anderson, Saad Awad, Dave Jansen and Patricky Pitbull on the roster already, the matchup possibilities for an exciting fighter like him are endless.”

An opponent and date for Guillard’s debut in Bellator is expected to be announced in the near future.
