Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko booked for UFC 196

A women’s bantamweight bout has been booked for UFC 196 on March 5 in Las Vegas as Amanda Nunes will meet Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC officials announced the fight booking on Thursday.

UFC 196 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on March 5 and will be headlined by a title fight as Rafael dos Anjos defends the lightweight title against current featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

Nunes (11-4) has won back to back fights and has gone 4-1 in the UFC. Her most recent win came in August of last year when she defeated Sara McMann by submission at UFC Fight Night 73. Shevchenko (12-1) was signed by the UFC last year and won her promotional debut against Sarah Kaufman by split decision at UFC on FOX 17. She is currently on a five fight winning streak and her only defeat came in 2010 against Liz Carmouche.
