Andre Soukhamthath vs. Kody Nordby meet for the inaugural bantamweight title at CES MMA 33

The inaugural CES MMA bantamweight champion will be crowned on March 11 at CES MMA 33 as Woonsocket High School alums Andre Soukhamthath and Kody Nordby will battle for the 135 pound title.

The fight booking was announced by CES MMA officials today.

CES MMA 33 will come from the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island and tickets are on CESMMA.com or reserve by phone at 401-724-2253.

Soukhamthath (9-3) has been competing in CES MMA since his second professional fight in 2012 and is coming off a TKO win in October against Carlos Galindo. Eight of his nine professional wins have come by stoppage and based on quotes from the press release on this fight, this fight seems to be personal.

“I will put him in his place when the cage door locks,” Soukhamthath said in a press release issued by CES MMA. “He just talks so much (expletive). He’s been talking (expletive) about me since he turned pro. He’s talented, but he just talks way too much. I won’t say too much to feed into it. But I’m really excited this fight is happening, and I’m excited to beat that (expletive). Kody isn’t on my level at all. He won’t be able to do the things that he’s done to his other opponents. I’m going to get this win, and there’s nothing he can do about it. I’ve earned this title and it’s going to feel great to have it wrapped around my waist.”

Nordby (6-3) is currently on a three fight winning streak and all three of those wins have come by rear-naked choke submission in the first round. His most recent victory came earlier this month at CES MMA 32 against Derek Shorey and this is a fight he has been looking for since making his pro debut in 2012.

“It’s definitely been a long time coming,” Nordby stated. “I thought it would be a good fight back then. He will soon find out that I have only gotten better and more dangerous with every outing. He has a big name, and I’m excited to put it on my resume. This is the biggest fight of my career. I’m not letting anyone dictate what’s going to happen except me. This fight will end with the title belt around my waist.”

CES MMA 33 will be televised live by AXS TV and the complete fight card will be announced in the coming weeks.
