The main event of next month’s New England Fights 22 event in Lewiston, Maine will be a lightweight bout as Jesse Erickson will look for his fourth straight victory when he faces Devin Powell.
Erickson (7-4) is coming off a submission win against Ricky Slyvester at New England Fights 19 and all of his professional wins have come by stoppage. During his appearance on Tuesday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Erickson explained how he is focused on the challenged in front of him but it’s motivating to think what a win next month could lead to.
“I try to focus on what is right in front of me,” Erickson said. “But at the same time, it can be motivating to think what might be happening after too. I try to think about a little bit of both really. I never looked past my opponents but I like to think what the reward is going to be when I beat this guy.
