The UFC will be heading to Ottawa on June 18 for UFC Fight Night 89 and the event will be headlined by a welterweight bout as former title challenger Rory MacDonald meets Stephen Thompson.
The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Friday afternoon.
MacDonald (18-3) is coming off a lost against current UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 189 and the defeat snapped a three fight winning streak. Thompson (12-1) is currently on a six fight winning streak and he is coming off a TKO win against former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks.
The venue for UFC Fight Night 89: MacDonald vs. Thompson is expected to be announced shortly, along with ticket information.
