Bellator 153 took place on Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut and was headlined by Andrey Koreshkov retaining the Bellator welterweight title with a decision victory over former WEC and UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson

  1. Wow, Spartan is for real! What a fucking performance. Bellator would be dumb as fuck if they ever released that dude.

    So still there hasn’t been a former UFC fighter to become Bellator champion. But there’s been 2 former Bellator fighters to become UFC champs. Both of them are women. Eddie Alvarez would be the first former Bellator guy fighter to be UFC champ. And 3 overall if he were to defeat RDA.

    Phil Davis would be first former UFC fighter to win Bellator gold if he beats King Mo and then beats champ McGreary.

    So who are you hearing Kharitonov will fight for his Bellator debut and when?

  2. It’s funny how everybody thought Bendo would destroy Spartan. And now everybody wants to see him in the UFC so badly.

    I did think cyborg would upset Ward. Who do you think is next for both of them? And do you think if Daley wins he gets Spartan? Or maybe they go with the winner of MVP vs Gonzalez.

    I think Bendo should go back to Lightweight and fight the loser of Chandler vs Thomson. Lightweight is where Bendo belongs.

    1. Hardcore MMA Fan, in my opinion, there are plenty of fights for Benson Henderson at lightweight in Bellator. Bellator could match him up against Dave The Caveman Rickels, which would be a very entertaining fight and a fight that could put Benson Henderson back in the win column. Bellator could match him up against Patricky Pitbull which would be very entertaining as well. And Bellator, of course, could match Benson Henderson up against Michael Chandler and Josh Thomson. Heck, a Benson Henderson vs Dave Jansen fight or vs Marcin Held fight would be great to get Benson Henderson back in the win column and have entertaining fights for the fans.

  3. Ben Askren can run his big mouth all he wants. But if he fought Koreshkov again he’d lose the rematch. Spartan has improved a ton since that fight.

    Ben Askren knows if he returned to Bellator or signed with the UFC he wouldn’t be undefeated anymore. That’s why he re- signed with ONE. And it’s not all about the money. UFC and Bellator would offer really good money. But he wants to retire undefeated.

    The old regime gave him a low ball offer. So he says. But I believe the new regime would offer him whatever he wanted.

    1. Hardcore MMA Fan, Ben Askren is letting his victory in 2013 over Andrey Koreshkov define him, as proven by his rants about how the Bellator Welterweight Championship Belt is meaningless. Well, the last I checked, companies do not stop doing business when a employee moves on. Fortunately, for Andrey Koreshkov, he has not let his loss to Ben Askren define him, instead he got back up, improved on his weakness, and has become a champion.

  5. Every time Bellator has stepped up Brennan Ward’s competition even slightly, Ward has proven that he just does not have what it takes. Four losses in Bellator and all quick losses by him in the first round, except against Alexander Shlemenko, which he got finished in the second round. What does Bellator do with Brennan Ward? Because now with Nieman Gracie in the mix, and Chris Honeycutt getting back in the win column, and Djamil Chan being a young up and coming prospect, what is the route for Brennan Ward to be put on in Bellator? Andrey Koreshkov has really learned from the schooling Ben Askren gave him back in 2013 because since then he has been a much more improved fighter. Michael Venom Page just keeps putting his opponents away. And Brent Primus needs to give those two judges who scored the fight in his favor his win bonus because he clearly lost that fight.

  6. Rodney P do you think Justin Gaethje could beat any of these guys: Aoki, Chandler, Alvarez, Brooks, Rickels, Melendez, Thomson, Campos, Bendo? Jason thinks Gaethje for sure would beat Aoki, Chandler, Thomson, Campos, Rickels. I think Justin Gaethje is overrated. If he fought in the UFC or Bellator he’d have a lot of loses on his record.

    And Rodney P MVP keeps putting away cans. Bellator needs to stop giving easy fights to some of their best fighters.

Justin Gaethje is an undefeated lightweight WSOF champion, and a former All-American college wrestler, so off course I think he could beat those fighters you named, and I think those fighters can beat him. Fighters, who want to be great, want to challenge themselves. I think with fighters who want to be great, yes, it is about winning because no fighter wants to lose, but fighters who want to be great it is about challenging themselves. Out of those matchups based on styles, Justin Gaethje vs Michael Chandler would be a total war. Dave The Caveman Rickels has shown he has no chin and I think Justin Gaethje beats him easily. Eddie Alvarez vs Justin Gaethje would be Justin Gaethje taking out Eddie Alvarez legs with leg kicks like Donald Cerrone did to Eddie Alvarez. Will Brooks vs Justin Gaethje would be a fight Will Brooks would try to stall and slow down Gaethje, but based on his fights Justin Gaethje does not slow down his pace for anyone. Brooks will try to use leg kicks to keep Justin Gaethje at bay, but Justin Gaethje actually stays in the pocket when he fights. He is willing to risk taking a punch to give his opponent several punches and kicks. And Brooks usually out muscles his opponents, but with Justin Gaethje wrestling background, I don’t think Brooks would be able to that to Justin Gaethje. I would have Justin Gaethje winning by knockout based on Will Brooks chin against Saad Awaad. I think Justin Gaethje beats Derek Campos easily, and I have seen that Josh Thomson does not do to well against bully type fighters like Justin Gaethje and I think Justin Gaethje beats him via decision. As as Aoki is concerned, until I see an Asian fighter do really well against a top flight American MMA fighter, I have to go with Justin Gaethje via a submission. And I think Benson Henderson vs Justin Gaethje would come down to a split decision via either side.

  7. I think Jared Rosholt, Norman Parke, Feijo , Mike Wilkinson should sign with Bellator. And maybe they can bring back Shawn Jordan and Damon Jackson. Or Shawn Jordan can sign with WSOF or Rizin. WSOF should sign Joe Riggs and KJ Noons. Actually maybe Riggs should retire. Hbu Rodney P what free agents do you want to see Bellator, WSOF, ONE, and Rizin sign? You can mention some free agents I didn’t say also.

    1. Jared Rosholt and Mike Wilkinson would be nice pick ups for Bellator. I think Norman Parke may have to head over to Cage Warriors to get his MMA career back going. Shawn Jordan has stated he is still waiting for his non compete clause expires. He actually stated his non compete UFC clause was for one year. Joe Riggs had has chance to resurrect his career via Fight Master and Bellator, but he wanted out and to be back in the UFC because that is what he valued most. Well, he got his wish, went back to the UFC, didn’t perform well, and now he has been cut again by the UFC. I don’t think Bellator management even wants to deal with him anymore. As far as Bellator signing Damon Jackson and KJ Noons, I don’t think Bellator wants to be known as the safe haven for UFC cast offs. It’s just not a good look. And One FC strategy is to cater to their Asian market, which is very smart. So signing too many western fighters is not what they are looking for. And Rizin FF has only had two shows, so who knows what that companies plan of strategy is.

  8. Also Rizin should try to sign Evgeny Erokhin, Denis Goltsov, Fernado Rodriguez, Yosef Mohammad.

    Bellator should try to sign Max Grishin, Eric Spicely, Oli Thompson.

    ONE should try to sign Rafeal Silva, Julio Cesar Neves, and Dmitry Sosnovskiy. I don’t think Sosnovskiy is still with Bellator.

    WSOF should try to sign Shaun Bunch and Zayats. I think Bellator recently released Zayats.

    2. What is going on with Shawn Bunch? Is it injury? And as I stated, One FC is catering to their Asian market and they are not trying to sign a bunch of western fighters. And just looking at Bellator, it seems Bellator is very careful about the type of young prospects they are signing, for example Bubba Jenkins, Darrion Caldwell, Aaron Pico, Ed Ruth, Tyrell Fortune, Jordan Parsons, John Texiera, Sirwan Kakai, Djamil Chan, and so on. It seems like Bellator is signing young fighters, who have staying power, where one loss does not hurt them and the type of fighters that they can be groomed into the Bellator way, if there is such a thing. Companies love to sell their way of doing things (lol).

  9. Bellator released a lot of the fighters I mentioned and then they went to the UFC. Now they got cut from there too. But UFC released them after a couple of loses. Bellator released them on winning streaks or after 1 or 2 loses.

    I have a feeling Fabio Maldonado will sign with Bellator and they’ll have him rematch Joey Beltran.

    Btw there are a lot more former Bellator fighters in the UFC than they’re former UFC fighters in Bellator. That’s not really that surprising bc UFC has 550 fighters on their roster. UFC has the very best fighters from every single MMA organization there has ever been.

    Some Bellator fighters have done good in UFC and against UFC fighters in Bellator. Most recently Spartan destroying former WEC and UFC champ Bendo.

  10. I think both Mike Wilkinson and Norman Parke will be on that Bellator London event.
