Jake Matthews vs. Steven Ray added to The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale

A lightweight bout has been added to The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale on July 8 in Las Vegas as Jake Matthews will meet Steven Ray.

The fight booking was announced by the UFC on Monday.

The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale will take place on July 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be headlined by a title fight as Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends the women’s strawweight title against Claudia Gadelha.

Matthews (10-1) has won three of his four fights in the UFC and is coming off a submission win last month against Johnny Case at UFC Fight Night 85. All of his victories in the UFC have come by stoppage and two of the victories have come by submission. Ray (19-5) is currently on a five fight winning streak and three of those wins have come in the UFC. His most recent win came in October as he defeated Mickael Lebout at UFC Fight Night 76 by unanimous decision.
