Chris Honeycutt moves up to middleweight, meets Mikkel Parlo at Bellator 156

After five fights in the welterweight division, Chris Honeycutt is moving up to the middleweight division next month at Bellator 156 as he will meet Mikkel Parlo on the main card broadcast on Spike.

The fight booking was announced by Bellator on Thursday and along with announcing Honeycutt vs. Parlo, Bellator also announced that A.J. Matthews vs. Ben Reiter and Ricky Rainey vs. Thiago Jambo have been added to the preliminary card.

Bellator 156 will come from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California on June 17 and will be headlined by a title fight rematch as Marcos Galvao defends the bantamweight title against former champion Eduardo Dantas.

Honeycutt (7-1, 1NC) is coming off a decision win against Matt Secor at Bellator 153 and he has gone 3-1, 1NC in the promotion. This will be his first fight at middleweight since 2014, which was a TKO win against Jake Gallagher at UPC Unlimited: Up and Comers 18 to retain the UPC middleweight title. Parlo (13-2) is returning to Bellator following a decision win against Abusupiyan Magomedov at German MMA Championship 7. He is 4-1 in his last five fights and seven of his thirteen wins have come by TKO/KO.
