Matthew Lopez signs with UFC, faces Rani Yahya at UFC Fight Night 91

Undefeated bantamweight Matthew Lopez has signed with the UFC and he will make his promotional debut in July at UFC Fight Night 91 in South Dakota against Rani Yahya.

The fight booking was announced by the UFC in a press release on Tuesday.

UFC Fight Night 91 will come from the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on July 13 and the event will be headlined by a lightweight bout between Ultimate Fighter winners as Tony Ferguson meets Michael Chiesa.

Lopez (8-0) is coming off a submission win in April against Eli Finn at RFA 37 and his last four wins have come by submission in the opening round. Seven of his eight wins have come by stoppage and all of those stoppage victories have come in the opening round. Yahya (21-8, 1NC) is unbeaten in his last three fights and is coming off a split decision victory against Masanori Kanehara at UFC Fight Night 71 last year. He has been in the UFC since 2011 and has gone 6-2, 1NC in the promotion.
