Doug Usher talks about being managed by Shane Carwin and taking one fight at a time

Middleweight Doug Usher will look for his sixth professional victory tonight at Valor Fights 35 as he will meet Matthew Baccuss on the fight card coming from the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray, Tennessee.

Usher (5-3) is coming off a win against Jason Gifford at Valor Fights 31 in Febraury and he has won five of his last six fights after starting 0-2 in his professional career. While he was in preparation for his fight tonight, he actually was in discussions with the WSOF to step up on short notice to face John Howard at WSOF 31.

However, a deal could not be reached for Usher to step up on short notice to fight on the July 17 fight card. With being unable to secure that fight, Usher admitted to The MMA Report that he is trying to stay in shape to make sure that he will be ready to go at any moment and is taking one fight at a time.

“I am just going to be patient and continue training,” Usher told The MMA Report in a recent interview. “No matter the outcome of this next fight, I am going to be right back in the gym that next week on Monday. Back on my regular training schedule. I am under management with EPU Collective and Shane Carwin. The ex-UFC heavyweight champion. He is my manager now. So me and him talk often. He is trying to set some things up later down the road after this fight. Just going to be patient and take things one fight at a time right now.”
