JC Cottrell signs with UFC and will make debut next week against Michel Prazeres

Tony Martin recently pulled out of his UFC on FOX 20 bout against Michel Prazeres due to an injury and stepping up to face Prazeres on less than two weeks notice will be UFC newcomer JC Cottrell.

The fight change was announced by the UFC on Tuesday.

UFC on FOX 20 will come from the United Center next Saturday and will be headlined by former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm returning for the first time since losing the title in March as she faces Valentina Shevchenko.

Cottrell (17-3) enters the UFC on a six fight winning streak and his last two wins have come in Legacy FC. His most recent win came last month against Cody Walker at Legacy FC 56 and is 15-1 in his last sixteen fights. Prazeres (19-2) has won three of his five fights in the UFC and is coming off a split decision win in November against Valmir Lazaro at UFC Fight Night 78. All three of his wins in the UFC have come by decision and two of them have come by split decision.
