I wanna see GSP vs Cerrone or GSP vs Lawler. Hbu?

    UFC’s top 5 welterweights vs Bellator’s top 5 welterweights? And UFC’s top 5 lhw’s vs Bellator’s top 5?

    • Jason Floyd

I would like to see the matchup with Anderson Silva. It’s a fight that fans wanted to see when both fighters were in their prime. I am thinking this is the route the UFC goes. I would not rule out Nate Diaz.

In terms of the top five questions, are you asking who I think the top five are in each promotion and who I would pick in those fantasy fights?

      • Jason Floyd

        UFC Top 5 Welterweights
        1. Tyron Woodley
        2. Stephen Thompson
        3. Robbie Lawler
        4. Demian Maia
        5. Carlos Condit

        Bellator Top 5 Welterweights
        1. Rory MacDonald
        2. Douglas Lima
        3. Andrey Koreshkov
        4. Paul Daley
        5. Michael Page

        UFC Top 5 Light Heavyweights
        1. Jon Jones
        2. Daniel Cormier
        3. Anthony Johnson
        4. Glover Teixeira
        5. Alexander Gustafsson

        Bellator Top 5 Light Heavyweights
        1. Phil Davis
        2. Ryan Bader
        3. King Mo
        4. Liam McGeary
        5. Linton Vassell

In terms of fantasy matchmaking and having it #1 vs. #1, #2 vs. #2, etc. I would not pick many Bellator fighters over UFC fighters. Now of course, styles makes fight. Thompson vs. Lima would be an interesting stylistic fight, but would probably still take Thompson. With where Condit is at this point, maybe I would take Page. At light heavyweight, I would not favor any of the Bellator fighters over UFC fighters.

Seriously, Hardcore MMA Fan, you want to see GSP vs Donald Cerrone? All Donald Cerrone has ever shown is the limits to his fighting ability is facing top opponents.

You don’t think that would be an exciting fight? I think it would be a more action fight than GSP vs Silva.

GSP usually has boring fights. But I don’t think these would be: GSP vs Lawler/ GSP vs Cerrone/ GSP vs Woodley/ GSP vs Lombard. What do you think of these potential fights?

      • Hardcore MMA Fan

GSP vs Silva would be huge for the UFC. I think that might be his first fight back. Even tho I don’t care that much about that mega fight. I would’ve cared a lot more if it were a few years ago.

Do you think the loser of Lombard vs Hendricks gets released?

    • Jason Floyd

Depends on how the fight goes. If it’s a fun, back and fourth fight. I don’t think the loser would be released. If the fight is not exciting, I could definitely see the loser being cut from the UFC.

I think Fedor will KO Mitrione. In his first fight he almost got KO’d by a guy that wasn’t even that good.

    • Jason Floyd

As I stated on this podcast, if Fedor’s fight against Maldonado was anywhere else besides Russia, that fight gets stopped in the first round. I would not be surprised if Fedor wins, but I think the athleticism of Mitrione will cause problems for Fedor tonight.

What do you think of the MVP vs Anderson fight booking?

    • Jason Floyd

No major issue with the booking. The only other opponent that would have made sense from a ranking aspect would be Chidi Njokuani.

  5. RODNEY P

What a surprise, Bellator matches up MVP against yet another fighter coming off of a loss. MVP, himself, wants to be tested, but apparently Bellator ain’t having no part of that. So instead of matching up MVP against Chidi Njokuani, we get MVP versus Derek Anderson. Well, at least Derek Anderson never makes a bad showing of himself.

    • Hardcore MMA Fan

It could’ve been much worse Rodney. They could’ve made MVP vs Gonzales rematch. Jason said that they were looking at doing a rematch. But that was a couple of months ago. Good thing they changed their mind.

Jason, isn’t this MVP’s last fight on his Bellator contract?
