The press conference was attended by UFC executive UFC Marshall Zelaznik, Vitor Belfort, Luke Rockhold, Ronaldo Jacare” Souza, Gleison Tibau, Francisco Trinaldo, and Lucas Martins.

Some of the UFC fighters that have received an exemption in the past include Dan Henderson, Chael Sonnen, Quinton Jackson and UFC on FX 8 headliner Vitor Belfort.

After Belfort defeated Luke Rockhold on Saturday night at UFC on FX 8, UFC middleweight Brian Stann wrote his feeling about fighters who are granted an exemption for TRT.

“I am not trying to be a jerk & not jealous of other fighter success, I am secure in who I am,” Stann tweeted. “Allowing pro fighters to inject test is just plain ridiculous.”

After Stann sent out that tweet, several people in the mixed martial arts community spoke out about the subject of TRT, which include UFC middleweight Derek Brunson.

“Agree.” Brunson tweeted at Stann. “Confidence, energy, swag, cardio everything goes up. It allows you to train harder, etc. Just ridiculous.”

At the UFC on FX 8 post fight press conference, Vitor Belfort did not answer questions about his TRT use as John Morgan of MMAJunkie.com attempted to ask him about his exemption.

Belfort did not want to answer the question but he has to understand that this is going to come up at every fight he participates in and it’s not going away.

The show recapped UFC on FX 8, which saw Vitor Belfort knockout Luke Rockhold in the main event and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza win his UFC debut in the co-main event against Chris Camozzi.

UFC officials made the announcement at the post fight press conference and the card will be headlined by Jose Aldo defending the UFC featherweight title against Anthony Pettis.

It was also confirmed by the UFC that a welterweight bout will be on the card as Demian Maia will meet Josh Koscheck.

The HSBC Arena has held three UFC shows in the past with the previous cards being UFC 134, UFC 142 and UFC 153.

Aldo (22-1) is currently on a 15 fight winning streak and he has made successful UFC featherweight title defenses against Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian, Chad Mendes and Frankie Edgar. This will be the second time he will defend the title in Brazil with the first time being against Mendes at UFC 142.

Pettis (16-2) has won three straight fights and is moving down to the featherweight division for this fight. The former WEC lightweight champion became tired of waiting for a title shot in the lightweight division and decided he wanted to move down to face Aldo.

The bonuses were announced at the post fight press conference and each fighter will received a bonus of $50,000.

Belfort won the knockout of the night bonus for his first round victory over Luke Rockhold in the main event. Belfort ended the fight with a spinning headkick and it’s his second straight knockout of the night bonus.

Four of his last five wins have come by knockout and he has won the knockout of the night in all of those fights. He has now won back to back fights and he is likely the next contender for the UFC middleweight title after Chris Weidman.

The submission of the night went to Jacare for his first round arm triangle choke win over Chris Camozzi. This was the UFC debut for Jacare, who came over from Strikeforce and he has now won four straight fights.

During his four fight winning streak, his last three wins have come in the first round and the last two have been by submission.

Martins and Larsen won the fight of the night bonus which Martins won the fight at the beginning of the third round by knockout. Larsen was likely up two rounds heading into the final round, but Martins landed a right hand that dropped his opponent and led to the end of the fight.

Rockhold missed a head kick at the start of the fight which he slipped but was able to get back to his feet. Rockhold went for a takedown which was unsuccessful and Belfort landed a right hand.

After an exchange of strikes, Belfort landed a spinning head kick which dropped Rockhold and he finished the fight with punches on the ground.

Belfort (23-10) has now won back to back fights and appears to be the next contender for the UFC middleweight title.

The fight opened with Camozzi bringing the fight to Jacare and the fight went to the ground as Jacare was able to get his opponent to the ground.

Jacare started in top position and looked to past to the half guard position. Jacare stood up from the position and then back to the ground where he achieved side control.

He looked for a submission but Camozzi was able to escape for the moment. However, Jacare would transition to another submission attempt and Camozzi tapped out to an arm triangle choke at the 3:37 mark of the opening round.

Jacare (18-3, 1NC) has now won four in a row since losing the Strikeforce title to Luke Rockhold and proved he is one of the best middleweight fighters in the world.

Dos Anjos opened the fight with a low leg kick and followed that up with a left hand. Both fighters exchanged punches with Dos Anjos landing the better quality punches.

They continued to exchange strikes and Dos Anjos looked for several body shots. With 90 seconds left in the round, Dunham took the fight to the ground and had top position. With 10 seconds left in the round, they were stood up and the round came to an end.

As the second round opened, Dunham immediately went for a takedown but Dos Anjos was able to stay on his feet. Dunham continued to pressure Dunham and a cut opened up by the right eye of Dos Anjos. They continue to have a kick boxing bout with both fighters landing strikes. At the end of the round, Dunham got a takedown that likely secured him the round.

Dunham continued to pressure Dos Anjos as the final round opened and looked for a takedown a minute into the round. Dos Anjos would stop the takedown attempt and the action moved back to the center of the cage. As the fighters clinched with each other, they both landed punches and they broke away from each other. Dunham looked for takedown against the fence with a minute left in the round but the attempt was unsuccessful. Both fighters exchanged a flurry of punches before the final bell sounded and the judges will decide the winner.

All three judges scored the fight for Dos Anjos with the scores being 29-28. Based off reaction from Twitter, many people believe that Dunham should have gotten the victory.
