Chris Weidman is sitting on the sidelines and is hoping that his next fight will be against Anderson Silva for the UFC middleweight title.
During “UFC Tonight” on FUEL TV, Ariel Helwani reported that Weidman is still hoping the UFC will give him a title shot against Anderson Silva, but is not interested in a fight with Alan Belcher.
If a fight with Silva is not next, Weidman would like to face someone in a number one contenders bout. He feels that a fight against the winner of Brian Stann vs. Michael Bisping makes more sense than a bout against Belcher.
With Silva waiting for Georges St-Pierre, a bout against the winner of the UFC 152 middleweight bout makes the most sense. If that were to happen, that fight would most likely take place in early 2013.
