Dana White: Machida wanted the title shot more than Shogun

After the UFC on FOX 4 card, UFC President Dana White spoke with Ariel Helwani on the post fight show on FUEL TV and said that Lyoto Machida wanted a title shot more than Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

Both fighters scored a knockout victory last night with Machida finishing Ryan Bader in the second round and Shogun stopping Brandon Vera in the fourth round.

“He (Machida) seems likes he wants it more right now than Shogun does,” White said. “Shogun is giving me the vibe that he is ready for a title shot and wants Jon Jones.”

Jones next title defense is set for September 1st at UFC 151 against Dan Henderson and Machida will face the winner, which will probably take place in early 2013.
