UFC 150 Preview: Benson Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar

The main event on tonight’s UFC 150 pay-per-view will be for the UFC lightweight title as Benson Henderson (16-2) makes his first title defense against Frankie Edgar (14-2-1).

Henderson defeated Edgar by unanimous decision at UFC 144 to win the title and Edgar believes that he did enough to get the victory on that night.

After the fight, Edgar believed that he should get an immediate rematch and he ended up getting his wish. If Edgar is unable to reclaim the lightweight title, the UFC will look to have him drop down to the featherweight division.

During the first fight, the key moment came in the second round when Henderson landed an up kick. That kick seemed to set the stage for the rest of the fight. He ended the ground throwing strikes and Henderson continued to work his way to a decision victory.

One of the things that Edgar was able to do in the first fight was catching the leg kicks of his opponent. The former champion has said that he has to do a better job of capitalizing on the leg kicks in this fight.

This fight should go like the first fight with a high pace and both fighters looking to be the aggressor. Edgar has shown that he is a better fighter in rematches, but Henderson has also been in this situation before.

In the WEC, he defeated Donald Cerrone at WEC 43 by unanimous decision and same people felt that the fight could have gone the other way. The rematch happened at WEC 48 and he proved he was the better fighter by getting a submission in the first round.

Edgar will need to do a better job in his striking defense and get Henderson on his heels. On the other side, Henderson needs to be the aggressor and continue to come at him with multiple strikes and combinations.

This fight is very likely to go all five rounds and it will probably be the fight of the night tonight in Denver.
