The first lightweight bout of the UFC on FX preliminary card was a battle of two MMA veterans as Jacob Volkmann took on Shane Roller.
With both wrestlers having solid wrestling backgrounds, each fighter tried to use their striking to take the fight to the ground.
Volkmann was able to get a takedown and would use strikes from the ground to get the back of Roller. Once he got the take of Roller, he was able to lock in a rear-naked choke and Roller would end up tapping out to the submission hold at the 2:38 mark of the first round.
Volkmann (15-3) has now won six of his last seven fights in the UFC and this is his first stoppage victory in the UFC.
