Christian M’Pumbu defends title against Attila Vegh at Bellator 84

Bellator light heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu will be making will be making his first title defense on December 14th at Bellator 84 against Attila Vegh.

Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney confirmed the news to TheMMAReport.com after last night’s Bellator 80 post fight press conference.

M’Pumbu (18-4-1) became the first ever Bellator light heavyweight champion when he defeated Rich Hale in the season four tournament. Since winning the tournament in May of last year, he has only fought once and that was a decision lost to Travis Wiuff in a non title fight.

Vegh (28-4) won the 2012 Summer Series light heavyweight tournament to earn this title shot and he has gone 4-0 since entering Bellator earlier this year. In the tournament, he finished two of the three bouts in the first round, which included a TKO win over Wiuff.

Bellator 84 takes place on December 14th in Hammond, Indiana and will also feature the finals in this season heavyweight and featherweight tournaments.
