The UFC announced yesterday that UFC on FOX 6 would take place on January 26th in Chicago and the main event for the fight card has been announced.
UFC officials made the announcement on Tuesday that Demetrious Johnson will defend the UFC flyweight title for the first time when he takes on John Dodson in the main event.
Johnson (16-2-1) became the first ever UFC flyweight champion at UFC 152 when he defeated Joseph Benavidez by split decision in the final of the inaugural flyweight tournament.
He has gone 6-1-1 in his last eight fights with the only lost coming against Dominick Cruz in late 2011 in a bantamweight title fight, which he lost by unanimous decision.
Dodson (14-5) is currently on a five fight winning streak and was the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 14” in the bantamweight division. After winning the reality show, he moved down to the flyweight division and defeated Jussier Formiga by TKO at UFC on FX 5 to secure this title shot.
