The UFC and FX recently announced that the next season of “The Ultimate Fighter” would be moving to a new night and it has been announced that the reality show will move from Friday to Wednesday.
The news of the move to Wednesday was first revealed in an interview with Jon Jones manager Malki Kawa that was done by the Fight Network. After Kawa said it in the interview, UFC President Dana White confirmed the news with Dave Meltzer of MMAFighting.com.
The show is currently in the 16th season, which will wrap up with the live finale on December 15th in Las Vegas and the next season is currently in production with the coaches being UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen.
The filming for season 17 of the reality show will be wrapping up in December and the season is expected to begin in January. White did not reveal the time slot that the reality show will be in on FX. When the show was on FX from season 1-15, the show was typically on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m.
UFC and FX officials are hopeful that the move to a new night will mean higher ratings for the show, which this season has been the lowest rating in the reality shows history.
