The seventh season of the Bellator Fighting Championships continues tonight with Bellator 83 from Caesars Atlantic City.
The preliminary card will begin at 6 p.m. ET on Spike.com and the main card will start at 7 p.m. ET on MTV2 and in commercial free high definition on EPIX HD.
Tonight’s card will be headlined by the featherweight tournament final as Rad Martinez takes on Shahbulat Shamhalaev and the winner will be guaranteed a title shot.

Zoila Gurgel vs. Jessica Eye
Round 1 – The fight started with them meeting in the center of the cage and starting to brawl. Eye landed a counter right hand that dropped Gurgel. Gurgel would be able to get to her feet, but Eye would lock in a standing arm triangle and she would put Gurgel to sleep and the referee came in to stop the fight.

Zach Makovsky vs. Anthony Leone
Round 1 – The fight opened with the fighters exchanging strikes and Makovsky went for a takedown 80 seconds into the fight, but Leone was able to stop the attempt. Makovsky once against looked for a takedown, but he gave up on the attempt as Leone went for a standing guillotine. Leone was able to land a combination against the fence and Makovsky looked to grapple. Leone would look for a takedown, but Makovsky would stop the attempt. The round would end with the fighters grappling in the center of the cage.
Round 2 – Leone landed a right hand as the round open and Makovsky looked for a takedown, but was unsuccessful. The fighters would grapple against the cage, with Makovsky’s back to the cage. After grappling for a minute, Makovsky was able to take the fight to the ground, but Leone was able to get back to his feet and the fighters would continue to grapple. Leone would get a takedown after they exchange strikes, but Makovsky was able to scramble and reverse the position and looked for a guillotine choke. Leone would escape and have top position. While on his back, Makovsky looked for an arm triangle, but Leone escaped. The fight would return to the feet with 20 seconds left in the round and the round would end.
Round 3 – Leone would get a takedown at the start of the round and looked for a guillotine choke, but Makovsky would escape and looked for a heel hook as he escaped. Leone would escape the submission and Leone would have top position. Makovsky would be able to get back to his feet and went for a guillotine choke and he took the fight back to the ground. Leone would escape and have top position. He would advance to side control and hold onto the position until the final bell.
Result: Anthony Leone def. Zach Makovsky via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Rad Martinez vs. Shahbulat Shamhalaev
Prior to this fight happening, Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney announced that Shamhalaev had food poisoning and the fight has been canceled for the night. This fight will now take place next Friday night at Bellator 84 in Hammond, Indiana.
