A featherweight bout has been added to UFC 157 on February 23rd as Dennis Bermudez will face Matt Grice.
UFC officials announce the fight on Thursday and the bout will take place on the preliminary card.
Bermudez (9-3) was a finalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 14” and was defeated by Diego Brandao in the lightweight finale by submission in the first round. Following the fight, he announced that he would be moving down to the featherweight division.
Since moving down in weight, he has gone 2-0 with the wins coming against Pablo Garza and Tommy Hayden. His win over Hayden came at UFC 150, which he won by submission in the fight round and won the submission of the night bonus.
Grice (15-4) originally came to the UFC in 2007 and went 1-3 in his first stint with the company. After being released, he went 4-0 outside of the UFC and returned to the organization last year.
In his return fight, he made his UFC featherweight debut against Ricardo Lamas and was defeated by TKO in the first round. He would return at UFC on FX 3 in June and he defeated Leonard Garcia by decision.
UFC 157 takes place on February 23rd at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and will be headlined by Ronda Rousey defending the UFC women’s bantamweight title against Liz Carmouche.
