A lightweight bout has been added to UFC 156 on February 2nd in Las Vegas as Jacob Volkmann will meet Strikeforce veteran Bobby Green.
The bout has not been officially announced by the UFC, but Volkmann has confirmed the fight on Twitter.
Volkmann (15-3) made his UFC debut in late 2009 and was defeated in his first two appearance in the organization by Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann in welterweight bouts.
After those losses, he dropped down to the lightweight division and won five straight fights before being defeated by Paul Sass at UFC 146 by submission in the first round. He returned to the octagon in October at UFC on FX 5 against Shane Roller and won the fight in the first round by submission.
Green (19-5) entered Strikeforce last year and lost his promotional debut against Gesias Cavalcante by split decision. Since that defeat, he has won four in a tow with his most recent win coming in August against Matt Ricehouse by unanimous decision. During his career, 15 of his wins have come by either knockout or submission with 8 wins coming by knockout and seven coming by submission.
UFC 156 takes place on February 2nd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be headlined by Jose Aldo defending the UFC featherweight title against former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
