Bellator Welterweight Tournament begins on January 24th in Oklahoma

The next season of Bellator MMA is one week away and the organization has announced the entire field for the upcoming welterweight tournament, which will begin on Janauary 24th in Thackerville, Oklahoma.Bellator 86

This will be the second fight card of 2013 for Bellator and will come from the WinStar World Casino and will air live on Spike TV at 10 p.m. ET.

Along with the tournament fights, the card will be headlined by Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren defending the title aganist season six tournament winner Karl Amoussou.

The main card on Spike TV will also have the Bellator MMA debut of former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal meeting Przemyslaw Mysiala in a light heavyweight tournament quarterfinal.

“From top to bottom, our welterweight division has a collection of pure finishers that have put on some wildly entertaining fights,” Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney said. “With a Welterweight World Title fight, the debut of King Mo and a stacked welterweight tournament, January 24th is going to be a huge night from WinStar World Casino.”

This welterweight tournament will feature several Bellator fighters who have recently competed in previous tournaments and the quarterfinal bouts will be Marius Zaromskis vs. Brent Weedman, Douglas Lima vs. Michail Tsarev, Raul Amaya vs. Jose Gomes and Ben Saunders vs. Koffi Adzisto.

Along with announcing the quarterfinal fights today, Bellator has released the bracket for the upcoming fights.
