The next title contender for Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler will be decided at Bellator 92 on March 7th when Dave Jansen faces Marcin Held in the season seven lightweight tournament final.
The fight will headline Bellator 92, which will come from the Pechanga Resort and Casino in California and tickets are currently on sale.
“Pechanga is a gorgeous venue that will be a tremendous partner for us throughout 2013 as we air live every Thursday night on Spike,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney.
Tickets for the event start at just $40, and can be purchased by visiting Pechanga.com, Bellator.com, or by calling the Pechanga Box Office at 877-711-2946 or visiting between noon and 8pm daily.
The tournament final between Held and Jansen was scheduled to take place at Bellator 84, but the fight was scratched after Held was unable to compete because he is under 21.
Held (15-2) made his debut in Bellator during the season four lightweight tournament and was defeated by Chandler in the quarterfinals. Since losing to Chandler, he has won five straight and four of those have come in Bellator.
During the season seven tournament, he defeated Murad Machaev in the quarterfinals by decision and submitted Rich Clementi in the semifinals by submission. The submission over Clementi was his eighth career win by submission and three of his last five wins have come by submission.
Jansen (19-2) is also on a five fight winning streak, with all five of those wins coming in Bellator. Three of his last five wins are by submission and he is excited to take on Held for the opportunity at a title shot.
“I’ve had a lot of time to work on my game plan and really focus on this fight on March 7th,” Jansen said. “Marcin has the total package when it comes to submissions, so I know what I need to focus on to win this fight, and get a shot at the Bellator title.”
