A middleweight bout has been added to UFC on FUEL TV 8 in Japan as former Bellator champion Hector Lombard will face former UFC title contender Yushin Okami.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on early Tuesday morning and the bout will take place on the main card, which will air live in the United States on FUEL TV on March 2nd.
Lombard (32-3-1, 1NC) entered the UFC last year after being the Bellator middleweight champion and being unbeaten in his last 25 fights.
He made his debut at UFC 149 against Tim Boetsch and was defeated by split decision. He returned in December at UFC on FX 6 and defeated Rousimar Palhares by knockout in the first round.
Okami (28-7) has been in the UFC since 2006 and is the last man to defeat current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. After winning three in a row in 2010, he would have a rematch against Silva, which Silva won in the second round by TKO.
After dropping his next fight to Boetsch, he has won back to back fights with the most recent win coming at UFC 155 against Alan Belcher. He was able to use his grappling to grind his way to a decision victory.
UFC on FUEL TV 8 takes place on March 3rd in Japan, which will be shown live in the United States on FUEL TV on March 2nd. The fight card will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout as Brian Stann takes on former Pride champion Wanderlei Silva.
