A lightweight bout has been added to the UFC 158 card on March 16th as John Makdessi will meet TUF alum Daron Cruickshank.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Friday night and the fight will likely be place on the preliminary card, which is expected to air on FX and Facebook.
Makdessi (10-2) entered the UFC in 2010 and won his first two fights in the UFC, with the wins coming against Pat Audinwood and Kyle Watson.
Following his win against Watson, he lost back to back fights and got back on the winning side of the fight at UFC 154 when he defeated Sam Stout by unanimous decision.
Cruickshank (12-2) entered the UFC last year as a participant of “The Ultimate Fighter Live” and has started his UFC career with back to back victories. His official UFC debut came at the reality show finale, which he defeated Chris Tickle by unanimous decision.
He returned to the octagon at UFC on FOX 5 last month and defeated Henry Martinez by a head kick knockout in the second round. It was his seventh career victory by TKO/KO and the first time he has won by a head kick.
UFC 158 takes place on March 16th in Montreal at the Bell Centre and will be headlined by Georges St-Pierre defending the UFC welterweight title against former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz.
