Nick Newell’s next opponent to be determined at XFC 22

Nick Newell became the XFC lightweight champion in December and the organization has announced that the winner of the XFC 22 main event between Jason Hicks and Scott Holtzman will face Newell in his first title defense. XFC

XFC 22 takes place on February 22nd at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, North Carolina and tickets are currently available.

Hicks (5-0) turned professional in 2010 and has gone 2-0 in the XFC. He made his debut with the organization in 2010 and won his debut with the XFC by knockout in the first round.

After taking a fight outside of the XFC, he returned at XFC 19 and submitted Shane Crenshaw by submission in the second round. He was scheduled to face Kevin Forant at the XFC card in December, but his opponent pulled out of the fight with an injury.

Holtzman (3-0) has started his career with three stoppage victories with all of his professional fights coming in the XFC. After scoring a submission victory in his pro debut in the second round, he has two straight TKO victories in the first round and he defeated Chris Coggins at XFC 20 in his last fight.
