Sandro, Richman, Bezerra and Khasbulaev advance in FW tournament
The season eight featherweight tournament began on Thursday night and Marlon Sandro, Mike Richman, Alexandre “Popo” Bezerra and Frodo Khasbulaev advance to the semifinals with victories.

The tournament kicked off with Khasbulaev defeating Fabricio Guerreiro by arm triangle choke submission in the second round. He was able to control the fight from the opening bell and Guerreiro was unable to mount much offense. Khasbulaev now advances to the semifinals where he will face Sandro.

Sandro was able to get a majority decision win over Akop Stepanyan and two of the three judges scored the fight for Sandro. The other judge scored the fight a draw as Stepanyan was deducted a point after the second round for holding on to the fence. Stepanyan was able to control the fight on his feet, but he was unable to keep Sandro from taking the fight to the ground and thats what won him the fight.

In the other quarterfinal bouts, Richman and Bezerra both won by stoppage in the first round as Richman defeated Mitch Jackson with three seconds left in the first round and Bezerra stopped Genair da Silva with an armbar submission at the 1:40 mark of the opening round.

The semifinals of the featherweight tournament are expected to take place next month, but Bellator MMA Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney did not announce a date for the semifinal bouts.
