Along with the title fight, the fight card will also see former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos take on former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.

The news of the fight was confirmed on Tuesday night’s edition of “UFC Tonight” by Ariel Helwani, who stated that UFC President Dana White confirmed the bouts to him earlier today.

Velasquez (11-1) recently reclaimed the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 155 when he dominated Dos Santos to win a unanimous decision. The fight with Silva will be a rematch of their UFC 146 bout, which Velasquez dominated the fight and won by TKO in the first round.

Silva (18-4) has won back to back fights since losing to Velasquez at UFC 146. Following his lost to Velasquez, “Bigfoot” returned at UFC on FX 5 and handed Travis Browne his first lost of his career as he won the fight in the first round by TKO. He followed up that win by defeating Overeem at UFC 156 earlier this year and won by knockout in the third round.

Dos Santos (15-2) suffered his first UFC defeat at the end of 2011 and the defeat snapped a ten fight winning streak. It was his first lost since 2007, which was a submission lost in Brazil. Overeem (36-12, 1NC) is the former DREAM and Strikeforce champion and entered UFC 156 one win away from a title shot. It was looking good for him heading into the third round of his fight with Silva, but he was knocked out at the 25 second mark of the round.
