Manny Gamburyan confirms he is out of UFC 157

It was reported yesterday that Manny Gamburyan had suffered multiple injuries in training and had pulled out of his fight with Chad Mendes at UFC 157, which takes place on February 23rd. UFC 157 #2

Gamburyan has confirmed the report to MMA Junkie and said he has a broken thumb and fractured elbow.

The UFC has not officially announced that Gamburyan is out of UFC 157, but that announcement should take place shortly. He was scheduled to face Chad Mendes on the main card of UFC 157, which will take place on pay-per-view.

Gamburyan (12-7) recently snapped a three fight losing streak at UFC on FOX 4 against Michihiro Omigawa, which he won by unanimous decision. It was his first win since 2010, which was a victory over Mike Brown in the WEC.

With UFC 157 being less than three weeks away, the UFC may have a tough time in finding someone who will take on Mendes on short notice. If the UFC is unable to find an opponent for Mendes, the heavyweight bout between Brendan Schaub and Lavar Johnson could be moved to the main event.
