UFC 156 takes place tonight from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and TheMMAReport.com will have live results and play by play of tonight’s card.
The preliminary card will begin at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on the UFC Facebook Page with two fights and the preliminary card will continue at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on FX with four fights.
The main card on pay-per-view will begin at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and be headlined by Jose Aldo defending the UFC featherweight title against Frankie Edgar.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Ian McCall
Round 1 – Benavidez was able to take control of the octagon and the circled around each other for the first minute of the fight. McCall the first significant strike of the fight with a kick to the body. Benavidez landed a right hand that brushed back McCall and would follow it up with an accidental low kick. The action would stop for a moment and McCall would be able to continue. They would continue to strike with each other and Benavidez landing the better strikes. McCall landed a short shot that opened a cut on Benavidez face and the round would come to an end. TheMMAReport.com scores the round 10-9 for Benavidez.
Round 2 – McCall opened the round as the aggressor and looked to push the pace. After striking with each other for the first two minutes of the round, they began to grapple with Benavidez looking to take the fight to the ground. McCall stopped the attempt and the action returned to the center of the cage.McCall would end up taking the fight to the ground and began to work his ground game. He would get the back of Benavidez and landed punches. Benavidez would get back to his feet, but McCall would hold onto his back. Round 3 – Benavidez landed a right hand at the beginning of the round and McCall looked to grapple against the cage. Benavidez would escape and the action returned to the center of the cage. Benavidez would look for a takedown, but McCall would stop the attempt. After exchanging strikes, McCall would take the fight to the ground but Benavidez would be able to get off his back fairly quickly. Jon Fitch vs. Demian Maia
Round 1 – Maia waste no time and immediately looked for a takedown, which was successful. Maia would get the back of Fitch and looked for a submission. Fitch would stand up, but Maia was still on his back. Maia began looking for a rear-naked choke and Fitch defended the submission attempt. Maia would give up the hold and took the fight back to the ground. Fitch would get back to his feet and Maia still had his back. The round would end in this position and they head to the second. Round 2 – Maia looked for a takedown in the first 30 seconds of the round, which was successful. Fitch would be able to get back to his feet and Maia looked to grapple once they were back standing. Maia would take the fight to the ground and get the back of Fitch. Maia began to look for a rear-naked choke and Fitch defended the attempt. He would lock in the choke hold, but Fitch would defend the attempt. The round would end in this position and Fitch was able to defend the submission attempts. Round 3 – Maia wasted no time looking for a takedown and got the back of Fitch against the cage. He would eventually be able to take the fight to the ground and once again had the back of Fitch. Maia would escape the submission, but Fitch would have top control. Maia would get back to his feet and once again looked to take the fight to the ground. Fitch would be able to break away from Maia. Maia would once again look for a takedown, which was successful. Once on the back, he got the back of Fitch and looked for a submission. Alistair Overeem vs. Antonio Silva
Round 1 – Bigfoot threw the first strike, which was a leg kick that missed. They would grapple, with Bigfoot’s back against the cage. He would be able to break away from Overeem and the action moved back to the center of the cage. They would end up grappling against the cage, with Bigfoot’s back against the cage. Overeem would back away and Bigfoot looked to grapple and Overeem would gain the advantage. Overeem would work his knees against the cage. After exchanging strikes, they would once again grapple against the cage. The round would end and Overeem controlling the fight. TheMMAReport.com scores the round 10-9 for Overeem.
Round 2 – Overeem was able to take control at the beginning of the round and he would be able to take the fight to the ground. Overeem would move into top position from side control. Bigfoot would land strikes from the top as Overeem looked to advance his position. He would continue to work his ground game and referee Herb Dean would end up standing them up after a lack of action. Bigfoot would land his most significant strike at the end of the round. Round 3 – Bigfoot immediately looked for a takedown, which Overeem stopped. They would begin to strike and Bigfoot began to find his punched. He would land a right hand and knocked out Overeem against the cage.

Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Round 1 – After a feeling out process, Evans landed a head kick. They would continue to strike with each other and Nogueira would land a combination. Evans would land an overhand right hand that stunned Nogueira. They would continue to strike and Evans looked for a takedown. The fight would briefly go to the ground, but Nogueira would get the fight back to the feet. The round would end with Evans throwing a head kick. TheMMAReport.com scores the round 10-9 for Evans.
Round 2 – They would open the round with Nogueira having control of the cage. Evans would look for a brief takedown, but he was unsuccessful. The would continue to exchange jabs and Evans looked for a takedown, which was successful. The fight would get back to the feet and the round would end as Evans landed a head kick. Round 3 – They continued to exchange jabs as the round opened. After exchanging punches, Nogueira complained he was poked in the eye and the fight was stopped the fight for a moment. Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar
Round 1 – Edgar opened the fight with a low kick and they circled around each other. Aldo was able to land a right hand as Edgar was coming in. They continued to strike with each other and Edgar pushed the pace. Aldo began to land his jab and was counter punching Edgar. Round 2 – Edgar came out as the aggressor as the round opened. Aldo continued to counter strike and throw his leg kicks. Edgar would look for a takedown, but it was unsuccessful. Aldo would land a leg kick and a welt appeared to be starting on Edgar’s leg. After Aldo landed a short short, Edgar looked to grapple against the cage. Aldo would break away and the fight returned to the center of the cage. Edgar would be able to take the fight to the ground, but Aldo would get right back to his feet.
