UFC 156 Medical Suspensions

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has released the medical suspensions for this past weekends UFC 156 and thirteen of the fighters received a suspension.

TheMMAReport.com requested the list of suspensions and received the suspensions from the NSAC.

UFC 156 took place on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Five of the ten fighters on the main card received suspensions, which included headliner Frankie Edgar.

The complete list of the UFC 156 Medical Suspensions are below:

– Frankie Edgar: Must have facial CT Scan to rule out left orbit fracture. If positive then must have maxillo- facial doctor clearance or no contest until August 2. Minimum suspension until April 4 with no contact until March 20
– Antonio Rogerio Nogueira: Needs clearance by an ophthalmologist before next fight on right eye injury
– Antonio Silva: Suspended until March 5
 with no contact until February 24 due to chin laceration
– Alistair Overeem: Suspended until March 20
 with no contact until March 5
– Joseph Benavidez: Suspended until February 24 with no contact until February 17 due to forehead laceration
– Evan Dunham: Must have right orbital blowout fracture cleared by an ophthalmologist or plastic surgeon or suspended until August 2. Minimum suspension until April 4 with no contact until March 20
– Gleison Tibau: Suspended until February 24 with no contact until February 17
– Jay Hieron: Suspended until April 4 with no contact until March 20
– Jacob Volkmann: Suspended until March 5
 with no contact until February 24 due to right eye contusion
– Yves Edwards: Suspended until March 5
 with no contact until February 24 due to left eye laceration
– Chico Camus: Suspended until February 24 with no contact until February 17
– Francisco Rivera: Must have right hand/wrist x-rayed. If positive then he needs orthopedic doctor clearance or no contest until August 2. Minimum suspension no contest until March 20 and no contact until March 5
– Edwin Figueroa: Suspended until February 24 with no contact until February 17 due to left eye laceration
