The UFC recently announced that lightweight champion Benson Henderson would make his next title defense at UFC on FOX 7 against Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez and the event will take place on April 20th from the HP Pavilion in San Jose.
“Benson Henderson wants to beat Gilbert Melendez to prove once and for all that he’s the best lightweight in the world,” UFC President Dana White said. “Gilbert was a champion in Strikeforce and he’s been on an incredible tear. Benson wants this fight badly and I’m excited that it’s headlining such a stacked card.”
Along with the lightweight title fight, the main card on FOX will also see former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir face Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament champion Daniel Cormier, Nate Diaz take on Josh Thomson and Dan Hardy meet Matt Brown.
Tickets for UFC on FOX: HENDERSON vs. MELENDEZ go on sale Friday, February 15 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT and are priced at $250, $150, $100, $75, and $50.
