A middleweight bout has been added to UFC on FUEL TV 10 on June 8th in Brazil as Derek Brunson will meet Ronny Markes.
The bout has not been officially announced by the UFC at this time, but both fighters have confirmed the fight on Twitter.
Brunson (10-2) snapped a two fight losing streak at the end of 2012 when he defeated Chris Leben at UFC 155 in his promotional debut. He came over from Strikeforce, where he was 3-1 and his only lost in Strikeforce came against former champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
Seven of his ten professional victories have come by stoppage, with four of those wins coming by TKO/KO. Three of his last four wins are by decision with the only stoppage victory during that time coming against Lumumba Sayers in 2011.
Markes (14-1) has won seven in a row and three of those wins have come in the UFC. He originally returned the UFC as a light heavyweight but dropped down to the middleweight division in his second bout. All three of his victories in the UFC have come by decision with his most recent win coming against Andrew Craig at UFC on FX 7 at the beginning of the year.
UFC on FUEL TV 10 will serve as the finale for “The Ultimate Fighter Brasil 2” and is expected to be headlined by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira meeting Fabricio Werdum.
