A lightweight bout has been added to UFC on FX 8 on May 18th in Brazil as UFC veteran Gleison Tibau will face John Cholish.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Wednesday and the bout will take place on the preliminary card, which is expected to be shown on FUEL TV and Facebook.
Tibau (26-9) originally entered the UFC in 2007 as a welterweight and has gone 11-7 in the UFC. He has won four of his last six, but has lost two of his last three fights.
His last four defeats are by decision and he was defeated by Evan Dunham at UFC 156 by split decision in his last fight. Six of his last seven fights have gone the distance and he has gone 3-3 in those fights.
Cholish (8-2) was on a seven fight winning streak before being signed by the UFC and has gone 1-1 in the organization. He won his UFC debut at the end of 2011 at UFC 140 by TKO against Mitch Clarke in the second round.
His second fight in the organization came at UFC on FOX 3 in May of last year and was defeated by Danny Castillo. He was scheduled to face Yves Edwards at UFC on FOX 5, but he had to pull out of the fight with an injury.
UFC on FX 8 takes place on May 18th in Brazil and will be headlined by a five round middleweight bout as Vitor Belfort takes on Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.
