A welterweight bout has been added to UFC 162 on July 6th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena as Seth Baczynski will face Strikeforce import Brian Melancon.
UFC officials have announced the fight booking and the fight will take place on the preliminary card.
Baczynski (17-7) originally entered the UFC during The Ultimate Fighter 11 and lost his official UFC debut against Brad Tavares at the finale in a middleweight bout.
He was released from the UFC after the fight and won two fights outside of the UFC before coming back in 2011.
Once he came back to the UFC, he won four in a row with three of the four wins coming by stoppage. His four fight win streak was stopped at the end of 2012 when he was defeated at UFC on FX 6 against Mike Pierce by unanimous decision.
Melancon (6-2) won five of his first six fights before coming to Strikeforce in 2011. He lost his debut in Strikeforce to Issac Vallie-Flagg and won his second fight in the organization against Felipe Portela. This will be his first fight in nearly two years and he has three career wins coming in the first round.
UFC 162 takes place on July 6th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be headlined by Anderson Silva defending the UFC middleweight title against Chris Weidman.
