A pair of bouts have been added to the UFC 161 card in Winnipeg as Ryan Jimmo will meet Igor Pokrajac in a light heavyweight bout and John Maguire will drop down to the lightweight division and face Mitch Clarke.
Both bouts were initially reported by Neil Davidson of The Canadian Press on Twitter and UFC officials have confirmed both fights.
Jimmo (17-2) was signed by the UFC last year and has gone 1-1 in the organization. He defeated Anthony Perosh in his debut at UFC 149 and won the fight in seven seconds.
He returned at UFC on FUEL TV 7 last month and was defeated by James Te-Huna. He dominated the first round of the fight and nearly won by stoppage. However, Te-Huna was able to recover and Jimmo would lose the fight by unanimous decision.
Pokrajac (25-9, 1NC) has been in the UFC since 2009 and has a UFC record of 4-4, 1NC. After starting his UFC career 1-3, he won three in a row with two of those victories coming by TKO/KO.
He most recently competed at UFC on FX 6 against Joey Beltran and was originally defeated by decision. The fight was overturned after Beltran tested positive for a banned substance.
Maguire (18-5) was signed by the UFC in 2011 and opened his UFC career with back to back victories. In his second UFC bout, he defeated DaMarques Johnson at UFC on FUEL TV 2 by submission and won the submission of the night bonus. Since defeating Johnson, he has lost back to back fights and both losses were by decision.
Just like Maguire, Clarke (9-2) will enter UFC 161 on a two fight losing streak. Both of his UFC fights have taken place in Canada with his most recent fight coming at UFC 149 against Anton Kuivanen. He was defeated by split decision on the preliminary card and will likely need a win to stay in the UFC.
UFC 161 takes place on June 15th from the MTS Centre and will be headlined by Renan Barao defending the interim UFC bantamweight title against Eddie Wineland.
