With Clay Guida injured, Darren Elkins steps in against Chad Mendes at UFC on FOX 7

Clay Guida pulled out of his UFC on FOX 7 bout against Chad Mendes last week with an injury and Darren Elkins has agreed to replace Guida in the fight. UFC on FOX 7

UFC officials announced the change on Tuesday and the fight will take place on the preliminary card, which will be shown on FX.

Elkins (16-2) has gone 5-0 in the UFC as a featherweight and defeated Antonio Carvalho this past Saturday night at UFC 158 in Montreal. He won the fight in the first round by TKO and it was his first stoppage win as a UFC featherweight.

Mendes (13-1) has won four of his five fights in the UFC with the only defeat coming against featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Since being defeated by Aldo, he has won two in a row with both wins coming by knockout in the first round.

UFC on FOX 7 takes place on April 20th from the HP Pavilion in San Jose and will be headlined by Benson Henderson defending the UFC lightweight title against Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez.
