The World Series of Fighting held their second event on Saturday night at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City and Anthony Johnson defeated Andrei Arlovski in a heavyweight fight in the main event.WSOF 2 Poster

Johnson was able to out strike the former UFC champion to win by unanimous decision as all three judges scored the fight 29-28.

The entire fight would be on the feet and Johnson nearly ended the fight at the end of the first round. He dropped Arlovski in the final ten seconds of the round and the former champion was saved by the bell.

Johnson (15-4) would continue to land the better strikes in the second round and controlled the pace of the fight. Arlovski did land an accidental knee to the groin during the round, which made Johnson want to finish the fight once he recovered from the knee.

In the final round, Johnson attempted to get the fight to the ground on multiple occasions, but Arlovski was able to stop the attempts. Once the fight was over, Johnson said he will move back down to the light heavyweight division, since the guys at heavyweight are to big for him.

Moraes stops Nam in the first round
The co-main event of WSOF 2 was a bantamweight bout and Marlon Morares won his fourth straight fight with a first round victory over Tyson Nam.

After the fighters had a feeling out process for the first two and a half minutes, Moraes (10-4-1) was able to land a head kick that dropped Nam and finished the fight on the ground with punches.

The end of the fight came at the 2:55 mark of the first round and this is the fourth knockout win of his career. The lost for Nam (12-5) snaps a four fight winning streak and this is the third time he has been defeated by knockout.

Burkman KO’s Simpson and sets up potential fight with Fitch
Former UFC fighters Josh Burkman and Aaron Simpson met on the main card, which was a fight to determine who Jon Fitch would face at WSOF 3 in June.

Burkman was able to use his striking to control the fight and ended the fight at the 3:04 mark of the opening round with a knockout. Burkman landed a flurry of punches that staggered Simpson against the cage and landed a knee that would lead to the end of the fight.

In his post fight interview, Burkman (25-9) stated that he wanted a title shot in his next fight and felt that Fitch needs to win a fight in the WSOF and then they should fight for the title.
