The 2013 Bellator MMA Summer Series will begin in a couple of months and the organization has announced that the three tournaments that will take place will be four fighter tournaments.
Bellator MMA Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney confirmed to TheMMAReport.com last week in Atlantic City that the tournaments that would be taking place in the Summer Series would be bantamweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight.
“We are always striving to enhance every aspect of the Bellator formula for our fighters and fans,” Bellator CEO & Chairman Bjorn Rebney said. “Our Champions consistently defending their titles against world class challengers who’ve earned their title shots creates a win/win for those two crucial groups. Three stacked 4-man tournaments over our Summer Series on Spike is another great step in our growth and evolution”
The four fighter tournaments are just for the Summer Series and the eight fighter tournaments will return in the fall during season nine. During last week’s broadcast, Bellator announced that Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal would be one of the participants in the light heavyweight tournament, but the organization has not announced what other fighters will be in the Summer Series tournaments.
