Legacy Fighting Championships 19 took place on Friday night at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas and Will Campuzano retained the Legacy FC flyweight title with a decision win over Allan Nascimento.
Campuzano (12-4) was able to take the fight to the ground in every round and his use control the fight with Nascimento on his back.
Nascimento (7-1) did attempt multiple submission attempts from his back during all five rounds, but Campuzano was able to escape all of the attempts and win rounds with his striking from the ground.
During the fourth round, Campuzano was deducted a point for hitting Nascimento on the back of the head. The point deduction did not end up hurting the champion as he won easily on all three of the judges scorecards. He has now won four in a row since being released from the UFC and said in his post fight interview that he is a free agent.
Karakhanyan wins seventh straight with decision over Thomas
Georgi Karakhanyan took a big step in potentially making it to the UFC as he won his seventh straight fight with a decision victory over former UFC fighter Din Thomas.
Karakhanyan (21-3) was able to control the fight in the first and second round by taking the fight to the ground. He was able to keep Thomas on his back and avoid exchanges on the feet.
In the final round, Thomas was able to keep the fight on the feet for a majority of the round and it was his best round. At the end of the fight, Karakhanyan won by unanimous decision and admitted in his post fight interview that he had been sick all day.
Drysdale once agains wins by first round submission
Robert Drysdale improved to 6-0 with another first round submission victory as he defeated D.J. Linderman by rear-naked choke.
He was able to take the fight to the ground in the opening minute of the fight and would eventually transition to the back of Linderman and lock in the rear-naked choke. Once the submission was locked in, Linderman immediately tapped and this is his first career lost by submission.
