The UFC on FOX 7 Fight Night Bonuses went to Matt Brown, Jordan Mein, Josh Thomson and Yoel Romero with each fighter receiving $50,000.
UFC President Dana White announced the bonuses during the post fight press conference and the organization handed out two knockout of the night bonuses since there were no submissions on Saturday night.
The fight of the night went to Brown and Mein, which Brown won the fight in the second round by TKO.
The two UFC welterweights had one of the best rounds of the year in the first round as each fighter appeared close to a stoppage victory. In the second round, Brown was able to hurt Mein early in the round and got the stoppage victory at the one minute mark of the round. With the victory, Brown has now won five fights in a row and this is the first time in his 15 UFC fights that he has won a fight night bonus.
The knockout of the night bonuses went to Thomson and Romero. Thomson defeated Nate Diaz on the main card by TKO in the second round. Thomson landed a head kick which led to the end of the fight and the Diaz corner threw in the towel as the referee stopped the fight. This was Thomson’s first fight in the UFC since 2004 and he has won four of his last six fights.
Romero defeated Clifford Starks in the opening bout of the preliminary card with a knockout in the first round. He landed a flying knee and landed punches on the ground before the referee came in to stop the fight. This was his UFC debut and all five of his career wins have come by TKO/KO.
