Another lightweight bout has been added to UFC on FOX 8 on July 27th in Seattle as Ultimate Fighter 15 winner Michael Chiesa will meet Reza Madadi.
UFC officials confirmed the fight booking on Tuesday night and the fight will take place on the preliminary card.
Chiesa (9-0) opened his career with seven straight wins before entering The Ultimate Fighter 15. He made it to the finals of the live season of the reality show and defeated Al Iaquinta by technical submission in the first round to win the show.
He returned to the UFC earlier this year and defeated Anton Kuivanan by rear-naked choke submission in the second round at UFC 157. His last six wins have come by submission, with the last five coming by rear-naked choke.
Madadi (13-3) was signed by the UFC in late 2011 an did not make his debut until April of last year and defeated Yoislandy Izquierdo by guillotine choke submission at UFC on FUEL TV 2. He would end up losing his next fight by split decision to Cristiano Marcello, which many people felt he should have won the fight.
He most recently defeated Michael Johnson by d’arce choke submission at UFC on FUEL TV 9 earlier this month in Sweden and he won the submission of the night bonus. It was his eighth career win by submission and his first d’arce choke submission.
UFC on FOX 8 takes place on July 27th from KeyArena in Seattle, Washington and the UFC is expected to announce the main event for the fight card in the near future.
