The Swedish MMA Federation ruled on Tuesday that Alexander Gustafsson would not be medically cleared to face Gegard Mousasi in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 9.
With Gustafsson off the card, the UFC has turned to Gustafsson’s training partner Illir Latifi to face Mousasi.
UFC President Dana White announce the change on Tuesday night and the fight will be a three round light heavyweight fight.
Latifi (7-2, 1NC) is currently on a three fight winning streak and five of his career wins have come by stoppage. During his recent winning streak, two of his three wins have come by decision and his last fight came in October of last year.
Mousasi (33-3-2) is a former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and will be making his UFC debut in this fight. Since losing the Strikeforce title, he has gone 5-0-1 and three of those wins have come by submission.
